The past couple of years we’ve watched as tons of books were adapted for the big screen. With the Harry Potter movies finished (sad face) we get excited for other books we’ve read to become movies. These are some book movie adaptations that are coming out this year!
The Scorch Trials
This is the second movie in the Maze Runner Trilogy. The trilogy is a post-apocalyptic novel with the characters trapped in different situations without their memories. The first installment ended when they escaped the Maze. The Scorch Trials follows what happens after, and explains more about why they were in the maze, all while trying to find a cure for the Flare virus. Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

Mockingjay Part 2
The final installment of the Hunger Games is upon us. The first part ended with Peeta brainwashed and Katniss declaring war on the Capitol. Another post-apocalyptic trilogy with a corrupt government and the awesome main character, Jennifer Lawrence. In the last installment we should see the war on the Capitol continue and see how Katniss ends up. Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Donald Sutherland.

Frankenstein
Yes. Another adaption of Mary Shelley’s famous work. But this one has Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy in it! The 1994 adaption is my personal favorite. The story follows Dr. Frankenstein’s assistant, Igor, rather than the monster. It’s supposed to be a more contemporary adaption and it will be interesting to see how it turns out!

The Jungle Book
Disney has been on a kick lately of remaking animated movies as live action. This one includes a cast of Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong’o, Bill Murray and Christopher Walken. An orphan boy is raised by animals and has great animal friends. The past few live action remakes have gotten great reviews, hopefully this one will too!
