Sometimes we’re stressed out, tired, or just plain having a bad day, and no one likes having bad days. These are simple ways to cheer you up, relax you, and try to make your day a little brighter. Let’s call on our favorite childhood friend, Disney.

Hakuna Matata


Timone and Pumba had the right idea with this mantra in the Lion King, it means no worries! Sometimes you just have to sit back and think, “today might be rough, and tomorrow might be rough, but I’ve got a lot of things to be thankful for.” Spend a little time thinking about the good things you have and try and smile. Smiling has a lot of benefits, and can greatly improve mood. Try and relax a little and have an Hakuna Matata kind of attitude today!

Once Upon A Dream

Sleeping Beauty hit the nail on the head with this song. Having a bad day? Lay down and take a twenty to thirty minute nap. Resting up will relax you.  You may be having a bad day because you didn’t get enough sleep. If you’re irritated or on edge, a little peace and quiet will help calm you down.

Zero To Hero

This was one of the coolest songs in the Hercules movie to me as a kid. Hercules was a seemingly ordinary guy who became a hero. Go out and do something “heroic” today. No, you don’t have to save the world, but you can hold the door for someone. Help out a friend with their homework, do your roommates laundry or cook dinner for someone. Ask someone how their day is because it will make their day better knowing you care. Helping someone else, and putting a smile on someone else’s face will put you in a better mood. Good karma, guys- good karma!

Reach For The Sky

Woody playing with Buster in the Toy Story movies was one of the cutest scenes.  Stretching throughout the day can wake up your body, and make you feel more limber. Taking a little chunk out of your day to do some exercising can greatly improve your mood as well. When you exercise your body releases endorphins, which can chemically improve your mood.

Put That Thing Back Where It Came From

Or so help me! Mike had some issues with Boo in the monster world in Monsters Inc. Maybe you have some issues with your clothes on the floor. Having a messy room can put a serious damper on your mood. Take a few minutes and just pick up the floor, straighten things, make your bed etc. And see if you feel a little more relaxed and in a better mood.

Having a bad day doesn’t mean a bad life. Try some of these Disney inspired tips and always remember to just keep swimming!
