8 Things to Do During Your Senior Year of College to Make the Most of It

If you’re like most college students, your senior year of college has been looming over you for quite some time. It can seem daunting to have such an important year ahead of you—there are finals to study for, job applications to fill out, and graduation ceremonies to attend. The good news is that it can potentially be the best year of your life so far, full of exciting opportunities and experiences! There’s a good chance that you will experience things during your senior year in college that will help you grow as a person in ways you never thought possible. This time in a student’s life can seem overwhelming, but it’s essential to make the most of your senior year while you can.

Get Involved with Campus Groups

It might seem like it’s too late to join new campus groups or get involved in new activities, but your senior year is actually the perfect time to try new things! As a senior, you should try to get involved with as many campus groups and organizations as possible while you still can. Start looking for student organizations and projects that you can be part of, even if it doesn’t seem like your type of thing at first glance. If there has been an organization that you’ve wanted to join or an activity that you’ve wanted to try while in college, it’s important to get out of your comfort zone and get involved. You don’t want to leave college with any regrets.

Participate in Your University’s Traditions

Since it is your senior year, try to take advantage of all that your university has for you. Whether it’s going on a spring break trip with your friends or attending grad parties, there are lots of things you can do that will make this year one to remember. Some universities have traditions for seniors to participate in, like senior sunrise, where the senior class can come together to celebrate.

Take Classes You’re Interested In

During your senior year, you should take advantage of the opportunity to take a class you’re interested in that might not have fit into your schedule previously. If you’ve finished all (or most) of your degree requirements, senior year can be a great time to take classes for fun. Check with your academic advisor before filling your schedule with random classes, just to make sure you’re not missing any important credit hours or degree requirements.

Explore Your College Town

If you want to make the most of your senior year, it’s important to spend some time exploring your college town. Use this time during your last days at school and go on a stroll through campus or explore nearby shops, restaurants, and other places in town. This is a great time to explore all of the great or unique things your college town might have to offer.

Go to a Football Game or Sporting Event

College football Saturdays are a tradition in American Sports culture. If you’ve never attended one of your college’s football games, now is the time! This is also a great time to attend any other sporting event that your college might offer, like basketball or baseball games.

Get Ready for Life After College

It’s important to fill your final year of college with a lot of fun and exciting activities. It’s also just as important to dedicate enough time to figure out what you are going to do after college. The real world will be here before you know it, whether you’re ready for it or not. Start building your resume, networking, attending career fairs, and applying for jobs and internships. Create a plan for what you want to do after college.

Take Pictures of Everything

Since everyone seems to have some kind of device to take pictures with these days, take pictures of everything! Take as many photos as you can and make a scrapbook with some favorite moments from your year. It is a great way to remember all of your favorite memories and will be something nice to look back on after you graduate! Capture every moment that you can, that way you have plenty to look back on.

Spend Time with Friends

Senior year is an opportunity to make memories with friends. Try new things with friends and take advantage of every activity you can do before graduation. After graduation, chances are you will move away from most of your college friends. This is the last time you will live in close proximity to a lot of them. Spend as much time as you can with friends, whether that be going out and trying new things or just hanging out and studying.
