Happy 4th of July everyone!  I hope you guys are enjoying the long weekend, grilling out, popping off fireworks and buying new furniture (apparently that’s what people do or those “4th of July furniture warehouse liquidation” commercials wouldn’t keep coming back—that’s my theory anyway).

If you’re having people over for some grillin’ and chillin’, I’ve been using this steak rub recipe for two years and have yet to get tired of it.

Amazing Cajun Steak Rub Recipe

2 tbsp. of paprika

2 tsp. of salt

2 tsp. onion powder

2 tsp. garlic powder

2 tsp. cayenne pepper

1 ½ tsp. ground white pepper

1 ½ tsp. ground black pepper

1 tsp. dry thyme leaves

1 tsp. oregano leaves

Slather vegetable or olive oil over the steaks, sprinkle the rub liberally over the steak, and pat the rub into the steak.  Get the coals nice and hot then grill for about 9 minutes on either side for medium-rare steaks.  Add a minute for each additional level of ‘doneness’ you want.  Serve with a side of corn on the cob thrown in a packet of foil w/ butter and pepper and grill it right alongside the steak!  (the corn will take a little longer than the steak)
